Welcome to the Webpage of Aliki & Daniel. We are happy to share with you information, thoughts, photos and our view about life in Amsterdam and in general. It is difficult to keep in regular touch in todays working world. Hence, we are leveraging the internet to stay close to our families and friends. We are extremely proud and happy to announce the arrival of our little angel, Dario Alessandro, born on February 19, 2004 at 10.39 at the VU hospital in Amsterdam. After a carefree pregnancy up to week 36, Aliki had incredible pain in her kidneys caused by the growing uterus and stayed at the hospital for 4 days. During week 38 the doctors and we decided to induce the delivery which we did. The delivery itself was a wonder as it was very short. Our baby was born within 4 1/2 hours after the membranes broke. Dario Alessandro had his umbelical cord around his neck but the doctor could immediately help him out of that uncomfortable situation and allow delivery of the entire body. Dario Alessandro was born a healthy 3010-gram baby. Within 4 hours of delivery, we left the hospital and took him home. The system in the Netherlands is very different from other countries and we receive help at home from caregivers 6 hours every day for the first 8 days of his life. He is breastfeeding nicely and Mama and Papa are doing fine albeit the sleeping patterns have changed considerably. Our wedding day was on Friday, September 6, 2002.. Many thanks to our families and friends that have made the days in Athens unforgettable.
